Philip Morris lawyer Greg Little said the Justice Department lawsuit could last through "several" American presidencies and that he expects a major delay in the start of the suit because of the "massive discovery" the tobacco industry plans to undertake.

Little said this lawsuit "is at least as complicated" as the Justice Department's antitrust case against IBM, which lasted between 1969 and 1982. That case was eventually dismissed.
